Stephen J. Dodson
President
Stephen Dodson serves as the President of Parnassus Investments. He started at Parnassus Investments in 2002 and has worked in a number of areas within the firm, including investment research, shareholder services, technology and compliance. In 2008, Institutional Investor News named him one of the 20 Rising Stars of Mutual Funds.
Prior to Parnassus, he worked for the venture capital group of Advent International, a private equity firm. Stephen covered the software and communication sectors, identifying early-stage companies for venture investment. Previously, he worked in the investment banking group of Morgan Stanley in New York and Menlo Park, covering communication service providers.
He has a BS in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco.
He serves on the National Advisory Council of UC Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies. He is also a member of the philanthropy group Full Circle Fund and leads a project on improving public education in California. In 2006, Stephen was selected as a delegate by the office of United States Representative Nancy Pelosi to the 2006 National Summit on Retirement Savings, a quadrennial summit on increasing the savings and retirement planning of Americans.
