Matthew D. Gershuny Promoted to Director of Research

San Francisco, California – April 10, 2014

Parnassus Investments announces the promotion of Matthew D. Gershuny to Director of Research. Mr. Gershuny joined Parnassus Investments in 2006 and has 15 years of industry experience. In addition to his new role, Mr. Gershuny will remain the lead Portfolio Manager of the Parnassus Mid Cap Equity strategy. When asked about the new role, he said “I'm honored and excited by the opportunity to serve Parnassus Investments' world-class research team as Director of Research. I am committed to our proven investment process and belief in continuous improvement.” Outgoing Director of Research, Benjamin E. Allen, stated that since joining the firm as a Senior Research Analyst, Mr. Gershuny “has been instrumental in improving and executing the unique investment process at Parnassus Investments, and will be even more valuable to our team and clients in his new role.” Mr. Allen will continue to be an integral member of the Parnassus Investments executive team, and will still manage the Parnassus Core Equity strategy alongside lead portfolio manager and Chief Investment Officer, Todd C. Ahlsten.

About Matthew D. Gershuny
Matthew D. Gershuny is the Director of Research and lead Portfolio Manager of the Parnassus Mid Cap Equity strategy. He joined Parnassus Investments in 2006 and was previously a Parnassus research intern. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Gershuny was a Vice President of Equity Research at Cowen and Company; formerly SG Cowen Securities Corporation. He also held various equity research and asset management positions at UBS Securities. Mr. Gershuny received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Cornell University and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan.
